Adrian Provost Announces Ambitious Bid to Acquire Spirit Airlines Assets and Build Nation’s First Electric Public-Private Airline Partnership

Renowned entrepreneur and investor Adrian Provost has announced an ambitious strategic bid to acquire the liquidated assets of Spirit Airlines, outlining a bold aviation vision designed to reshape affordable regional travel through electrification, automation, and public-private innovation.

The proposed $1.4 billion initiative centers on the creation of a new airline model that would operate through a Public-Private Partnership with the United States government, combining private-sector innovation with public-service priorities. Provost’s long-term roadmap targets a transition to a fully electric fleet by 2035, with the venture identifying the Elysian E9X as a potential foundation for future zero-emission regional air travel.

Under the proposed model, the company would operate through a Design-Build-Operate-Maintain framework, allowing the airline to manage infrastructure, fleet modernization, technology deployment, and long-term maintenance under one integrated strategy. During the transition period, the airline would also explore the expanded use of sustainable aviation fuel, supporting lower-emission operations while electric aircraft technology continues to advance.

Industry reports and speculation have suggested possible interest from high-profile technology investors, including Elon Musk, although final investor participation has not been formally confirmed. Provost’s team says the capital raise is designed to support acquisition, fleet transition, technology infrastructure, operational modernization, and long-term aviation innovation.

A central part of the proposal is the planned phaseout of Spirit’s existing aircraft fleet. Provost’s vision includes repurposing select aircraft for the private aviation market while gradually replacing commercial operations with electric aircraft. The company also plans to explore future collaborations with leading aerospace, defense, and technology companies, including organizations such as SpaceX and Anduril, as part of a broader vision for autonomous electric aviation beginning in 2035.

Innovation would not stop with the aircraft. The passenger experience is also expected to be significantly modernized. The proposed airline plans to offer complimentary high-speed Starlink internet on flights, creating a more connected travel experience for passengers. On the ground, operations could include humanoid robotics technology, beginning with Unitree Robotics H1 and H2 systems, with a future upgrade path that may include Tesla Optimus robots by 2030.

“This partnership represents a best-of-both-worlds approach, combining private-sector ingenuity with public-service goals to enhance national competitiveness,” said Adrian Provost. “We are committed to driving operational efficiency while providing the U.S. government with the regulatory support and infrastructure access needed to lead the world in advanced air mobility.”

The proposed company would maintain Spirit Central in Dania Beach, Florida, as a strategic headquarters while continuing to operate through Spirit’s existing hub network. Targeted operational markets include Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Detroit, Las Vegas, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Atlanta, Atlantic City, Miami, and Houston.

Provost has also announced plans to assemble a high-level advisory board featuring leaders and veterans from NASA, Space Force, the FAA, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and the commercial aviation sector. The goal is to align aviation safety, national competitiveness, public infrastructure, affordability, and emerging technology under one coordinated framework.

Key elements of the proposed aviation initiative include:

A projected $1.4 billion capital raise to support acquisition and modernization
A planned transition toward a fully electric Elysian E9X fleet by 2035
A proposed Public-Private Partnership with the U.S. government
Complimentary Starlink internet for passengers on future flights
Robotics-supported customer service and airport operations
Continued service through existing Spirit Airlines hub markets

For travelers, the most significant promise of the proposal is affordability. Provost says the public-private model could help control ticket pricing by combining government-aligned infrastructure access with private operational efficiency. The venture aims to preserve regional connectivity while modernizing the future of flight.
