EMMY Award-winning musician, singer, songwriter, and producer Braxton Cook reveals another stellar preview from his upcoming album with the release of “Josh’s Tune,” now available to stream.
Listen to “Josh’s Tune”: Josh’s Tune – YouTube
On July 25, 2024, Braxton Cook—a Juilliard-trained multi-instrumentalist celebrated for blending jazz, R&B, and soul—shared “Josh’s Tune,” a progressive jazz track co-created with bassist Joshua Crumbly. The improvisational composition, layered with a stutter-step rhythm and Braxton’s signature melodic saxophone, captures the essence of creative spontaneity.
“This recording has a special energy,” Cook explains. “None of us knew where it was going, and I’m so glad we captured that live, raw magic. It’s a testament to the collaborative nature of the entire album.”
New Album: ‘Not Everyone Can Go’ – Out August 29 via Nettwerk
“Josh’s Tune” follows previously released singles “All My Life” and “We’ve Come So Far,” which will also appear on Cook’s new full-length album Not Everyone Can Go. Set for release on August 29, the project marks a soulful, introspective meditation on transition, letting go, and embracing new beginnings.
Key album themes include:
-
Personal transformation through grief and growth
-
Reflections on fatherhood and balancing family life with career demands
-
Renewal of love and emotional reconnection in relationships

About the Album’s Sound and Message
Not Everyone Can Go continues Cook’s genre-defying journey, mixing warm jazz tones with smooth R&B, infused with the emotional richness of late-‘90s soul. Tracks like “Bad” capture romantic intimacy, while others reflect personal evolution and gratitude.
“This record is a reminder to take stock of what you have,” Cook says. “Even through change, there’s so much to be thankful for.”
